Wine of the Month – Coquille de Terre – Carignan – France – 12.5% abv.

Produced by the team at Xavier Roger, who have been mastering the nuances of southern French varietals and combining traditional and modern winemaking techniques. Their wines are a superb example of the quality that are now being produced in the south of France.

Coquille de Terre is a really startling and profoundly enjoyable red with lush fruits and soft integrated tannins. The grapes for this wine come from old Carignan vines, some of which are up to 80 years old. Perhaps a grape you may not be familiar with, it is used in many Spanish and southern French blends. Coquille de Terre allows this wonderful grape to stand alone and boy does it deliver!

Purple red with lovely aromas of blackberry and vanilla, it is dense and velvety with intense red berries and a lingering finish. Soft, fruity, and smooth, enjoy it on its own or with food - match it with beef or any tomato-based sauce.

This wine is suitable for vegans.
